The Long Va Tea House was built in 1963 and is located beside the Red Market. We can find a three-story building painted yellow on the outer wall at the north side of the Red Market, and the south wall of the third floor is inlaid with the four metal characters "Long Va Tea House". The Macao Cultural Affairs Bureau began repairing the teahouse in July 2005 to help preserve and revitalize the historic building and continue its original functions.

The layout of Long Va Tea House can be described as Hong Kong-specific and has kept the layout of the Hong Kong-style tea house in the 1960s. The shop has always adhered to the traditional style, based on traditional service methods, traditional craftsmanship cuisine, and refined tea from various regions, attracting a large number of guests. Although there is no air-conditioning in the store, it is filled with calligraphy and paintings and the boss's photography works.

The traditional tea house always is a “leisure place” where people can stay there for half-day and even more. This is part of the daily life of many Macao people who love gathering. The tea house will be a good choice to be provided to them. A pot of tea, a few cages of dim sum, a get together with family and friends and talks about family friendship.

In the past, there were more activities in Long Va Tea House not only including meals. For instance, people loved to keep birds as pets in the past. They would bring out birds to the tea house and the tea house would be full of birds’ sound. After some movie was shot at Long Va Tea House it made the prices go up and even attracted more tourists to visit the tea house. On the other hand, it ruins the neighborhood that could have been a comfortable and a relaxing gathering place instead of becoming a tourist attraction.

“Butterfly Method” Analysis:

The butterfly method for Long Va Tea House showed the past of memory and history was not too strong, it is because of the limited information available about the past of the tea house. Furthermore, the score regarding the present is higher because Long Va Tea House is the only traditional tea house in Macao that allows people to visit and have meals. Moreover, it provides a leisure place to the public and also keeps the old style of tea house, for instance, the customers take “dim sum” by themselves. Regarding the future, the score is the highest because the memories will continue through traditions and cultural practices of the tea house and these memories are the happiness of the past generation’s neighborhoods.
